Find out how Learning a language can improve your adventure life:

Section targeting

Is learning a language important? Is an adventure life exciting?

Por supuesto, no hay nada mejor que una vida de la aventura.

I bet you didn’t expect me to drop a Spanish line in the middle of an English page on this website right? But you shouldn’t expect any different because this page is about language and I’m a bit wacky like that sometimes. (Sorry I couldn’t help myself).

If you know Spanish, you probably understood that I said “Of course, there is nothing better than an adventure life”

Well I didn’t say so on my “about me’ page, but I can speak and communicate in four different languages: English, my official language, Patois, a dialect of French Creole (which is my native language), Spanish and some French.

So trust that I’m speaking from personal experience when I say that there are many benefits of learning a new or foreign language. Learning a language is easy. Read my tips here.

Some of them I’m sure you know already, but you probably haven’t looked at it from an adventurous point of view. If you think learning a new language is boring, I will have to disagree with you. Not only is the learning process exciting, but it will contribute a lot in the end.

Adventure Travel

My favorite benefit of learning a new language is adventure travel. I certainly don’t want, (and I’m sure you don’t either) to be restricted in the countries that I feel comfortable traveling to.

What’s better than being able to have conversations with the locals, introduce yourself, ask directions, listen to local radio and make friends there? Plus you will feel safer if you can understand what is being said around you!

Don’t just be content with the fact that with almost any resort you go to in the world, you will find employees who speak English.

Another great way that learning a new language and travel go hand in hand is that you can travel for the simple purpose of improving or learning anew language. In fact this is one of the easiest and quickest ways to learn a language-by immersing yourself in the environment and culture. Now I know it is not always possible for you to pack your bags and say "Hey I'm going to Paris for six months to improve on my french" but wouldn't it be fun if you could actually do that right now?

Language learning enhances YOUR RELATIONSHIPS (love & friendship)

Some people may disagree with me when I say that learning a new language can improve your love life. Yes and in many ways too. Find out more on language and love.

Don’t limit yourself to that special someone having to be able to speak your language. The number of transnational marriages, which are marriages between two people from different countries is increasing.

You can’t help who you fall in love with, but not being able to understand each other is a definite barrier. No two people fall, or should I say grow in love without at least one person speaking the other person’s language. If it happened to you, I’d sure like to know. It would be very odd saying your vows at the wedding ceremony. Okay I’m drifting…

Even if your partner from a country with another language speaks English, you may still have to learn his or her language to communicate with his/her family and friends, and more so if you’re planning on moving there.

Just as with finding friends, finding love on the internet is growing in popularity. The internet has broadened the scope of meeting people all over the world, and the opportunities for communicating with an even wider group of people is further increased by being bi or even multi-lingual.

Learning a language can help you in YOUR JOB

Being multilingual is an asset and therefore makes you more “marketable” as an employee. This means you are more eligible for promotion and opportunities to go on overseas assignments, especially to places where another language is spoken locally.

If you work in the tourism and hospitality industry or any job where you interact with people from all over the world, you need to learn a foreign language. If you have a traveling job, you need to learn a foreign language.

Many large companies have establishments in various countries of different languages. If you can speak more than language it means that you can get more consideration for opportunities to move to a higher paying job within your company, in another country if an attractive post becomes available. Don’t limit yourself.

MOVING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY with a different language

If you plan on moving to another country, either temporarily or permanently, being able to speak their language is a necessity. Immigration has increased. Your new next door neighbor might happen to speak a different language, due to globalization and people move all over the world to make better opportunities for themselves and their families.

LEARNING ABOUT CULTURES

If you have interest in learning cultures from around the world, it is best if you can communicate in the language.

Some people enjoy learning a language online. There are many websites where you can learn a new language online, and some of them are even free(Now that's easy language learning!). On an online website to learn a new language you can get tutors, free grammar lessons and free tests and quizzes. Trust me, learning a language is one of the best things you can do for self improvement.
