Selecting your Outdoor Cooking Accessories, Gear and Supplies

Section targeting

Like any other aspects of outdoor cooking, selecting the best and most important outdoor cooking accessories, gear and supplies can dramatically enhance the outdoor cooking experience. Some of these cooking gear and supplies may be on your regular cooking appliances and materials list, others are particularly known for outdoor cooking.

You may have a special set of BBQ tools or grill tools that you obtain from your local supply store. Some people prefer particular brand grill tools or other brand sets for outdoor cooking.

Almost all lists of equipment and supplies for outdoor cooking that someone can write up will have the following items on this page. So this is a comprehensive list, although there may be one or two things in particular that you think is important which you can include at the bottom of the page. Note that cooking equipmentsuch as grills are not added to this list.

List of Outdoor Cooking Accessories, Gear and Supplies

  • Outdoor cooking gloves

  • Aluminum foil- preferably heavy duty.
  • Containers for storing cooked and uncooked food and Ziplock bags
  • Gear for shade

You will also need clean towels for wiping hands and wet cloths for cleaning surfaces. Water is obviously needed for cleaning up surfaces, washing hands and cooking, for soaking dishes, and for making coffee or tea.

You may decide to use disposable plates and paper cups that you can just place in trash bags after use. This has the advantage of you not having to do much washing up. It is known that usually when you are cooking outdoors, you use fewer utensils, and cooking equipment.
